Depression Treatment in Orange County
When the water stops moving.
Depression doesn't always look like sadness. Sometimes it looks like flat water — no movement, no current, nothing reflecting back. An estimated 21 million U.S. adults experience a major depressive episode each year (NIMH), and most describe it less as feeling something painful and more as feeling nothing at all. Our Costa Mesa-based clinical team treats depression across PHP, IOP, and outpatient care, matched to how far under you're currently pulled.
What Is Depression?
Depression is a persistent mood condition, not a bad week. It dulls energy, motivation, sleep, appetite, and the ability to feel pleasure in things that once mattered — and left alone, it tends to settle in deeper rather than lift on its own.

Common Signs of Depression
Depression rarely announces itself all at once. More often, it shows up as:
- Sadness or emptiness that doesn't lift, most of the day, nearly every day
- Things you used to enjoy simply stop registering
- Exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix
- Appetite and sleep swinging to extremes — too much, or not enough
- A mind that won't focus or decide
- A harsh inner voice — guilt, worthlessness, self-blame
- Thoughts of death or suicide (if this applies to you, please see our crisis resources)
How We Treat Depression
We start by asking how far down you are, not just what's wrong. Treatment is matched to depth, not diagnosis alone:
PHP
When depression has taken over daily functioning, or you're stepping down from inpatient care.
IOP
When you need real structure but can't put work or school on hold.
Outpatient care
For milder depression, or maintaining ground after PHP/IOP.
Clinically, CBT does much of the heavy lifting — identifying the thought patterns keeping the water still, and working to get something moving again.
Where Treatment Takes Place
Depression treatment happens at our Costa Mesa facility, easily reachable from across Orange County, including Newport Beach, Irvine, and Huntington Beach.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if I have depression or just a rough patch?
If low mood, loss of interest, or fatigue persists most of the day for two weeks or more and is affecting your ability to function, it's worth a clinical assessment.
What level of care is right for my depression?
That depends on how far it's currently pulling you under — our team determines this during a brief assessment.
What if I've tried treatment before and it didn't work?
It happens more than people expect. Our assessment looks at what you've already tried, so your plan isn't a repeat of something that didn't fit the first time.
